The Market wrap up.

Yesterday at the markets was fun! I got a lot of great feedback and comments by the market goers, saying how lovely/cute my things were. The brooches and hair clips were the biggest sellers. I loved seeing the little girls choosing which one they wanted and then getting the money out of their little handbags. Very sweet.

A lady from the Sunday Telegraph even took some pictures of my bird mobiles, so I will be over the moon if they end up in the paper. I'll need to keep my eye out for them!

I managed to take a few photos of the stall. You can see my mum manning the stall. A big thanks to her for helping out all day. We hung all the birds from the umbrella, they looked fantastic all spinning around. The first one to sell was my favourite, which I was considering keeping for Finlay. Shame I didn't get a photo of it.

The Verdict: It was great fun, but as the markets are still new, not many people know they are there. It was pretty quiet so I'm not sure if I will go again next month or look for a different market. They are doing a lot more to promote them, so we'll see. I am definitely going to get an online store set up though.

Drawstring Utility Bags and Beanies!

These are a few of the multi-use drawstring bags I have made as well as some of the beanies.

The bags are various sizes and are super handy for storing toys, lunches, arts and crafts as well as being useful for carrying linen and laundry for day care. I sling one over the handles of my stroller when we go out and about. I always take a snack, some toy cars and a drink bottle for Finlay. Each bag has an internal pocket for carrying little things. I like to keep my keys and mobile in the pocket.

Taking the Plunge

I checked out the Eveleigh Artisan's Markets at the Carriage Works in Newtown on the weekend and have decided I will book a stall for the May Markets! Sunday, May 3rd.

Why not I say! I don't have much else to do and I have over 30 beanies made, what will I do with them otherwise... not to mention all the mobiles and flowers I have started making as well.

My mobiles are coming along nicely and I have made a fair few changes to them since the last posted photo. I decided I didn't really like that one too much, It was too bitsy for my liking.

I'll need to get craking if I am to have made enough items to sell.

Some New Inspiration

After wandering a few local childrens stores, I have been inspired to create my own mobiles. This is the first one I have made, I made the little Butterfly and Drangonfly myself using wire and glass beads. I also made the Peonie flower using lemon felt and a glass bead. Thanks to Yeonie for her template. There are some glass beads dangling next to the Peonie which are a bit hard to see. I still feel like something is missing but I cna't figure out what but I also don't want to have too many things on it making it look bitsy.
I was also thinking I could made some with little fabric birds perched in the hoop.
I think these would look great and be very eye catching all hanging from my market stall.
I feel like I am getting RSI from making so many beanies, so I am taking a break and making lots of little beaded Butterflies and Drangonflies for the mobiles.

The progress so far...

I have gone a little beanie making crazy over the last week and already have bought about 50 plus balls of wall and about 12 beanies already made.

I have started making cute felt flowers as brooches that can be added to the beanies or dresses.

Tomorrow, mum and I are going to collect crates and crates of fabric from my uncles house which my late aunt had collected and hoarded in 2 of the rooms in their house over the last 50 years or so. Mum checked out her stash a few weeks ago and was amazed at the stunning fabrics she had and never used. I am excited to go through this goldmine of fabric but also wondering where on earth I am going to keep it all!
